We care about your privacy and strive to protect it.
This policy applies to information collected from you when you use our websites, including microvest.com, seaf.com, ceed-global.org, and other parts of our network, including the websites of funds and projects managed by us. It also applies to information you give us when registering for our mailing lists, conferences, events, webinars, and mobile applications, or when interacting with us over social media channels.
This policy does not apply to information we collect from investors and funders in our programs and funds, to information from institutional counterparties, contractors, and service providers who deal with our company and funds, and to information collected about investee and potential investee companies, entities, and grant recipients. It also does not apply to applicants for jobs and internships or fellowships with us. Each of these categories may have separate legal requirements for data collection and maintenance.
We don’t knowingly collect or maintain personal information of those under 18. If you are a minor, please feel free to read our websites and social media, but don’t ask to be put on our mailing lists or send us any of your personal information.
Information We Collect
We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so — for example, to provide our information and services, to communicate with you, or to make our services better.
We collect this information from three sources: if and when you provide information to us directly, automatically through operating our services, and from outside sources. Let’s go over the information that we collect.
Information You Provide to Us Directly
- Basic personal details, such as name, title, form of address, and so forth.
- Contact details: email and mailing addresses, phone numbers, social media contacts, for example.
- Organizational information, such as job title, department, company name, company address, work email address and office phone number.
- Interests: investment or impact themes, countries and regions of interest, industry investing appetite, and products and structures in which you might be interested.
- Qualifications and restrictions: We may seek to understand what information we can provide to you based on whether you or the institution you represent are a qualified or accredited investor, qualified institutional buyer, or other categories with different regulatory treatment.
Information Provided to Us Automatically
We may collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available automatically, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information.
We may also collect information on how you use and interact with our websites, emails, social media postings, and so forth. This may include information from cookies, web beacons, and the like.
Information We Gather From Other Sources
We may collect and associate information about you from other publicly-available sources, or from information we already have internally about you and your organization.
How and Why We Use Information
We use information primarily to understand your interests and deliver targeted information about what we and our companies do, and to evaluate how well we are doing so. Sometimes we get this wrong! We apologize if this is the case, and are always happy to correct our errors.
We go to great lengths to avoid spamming you with information you don’t want. In addition to this, we use information to:
- Ensure quality, maintain safety, and improve our websites, email newsletters, webinars, and other services we provide.
- To protect our services, our users, and the public. For example: by detecting security incidents; detecting and protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; fighting spam; complying with our legal obligations; and protecting the rights and property of MicroVest and others.
- To fix problems with our services. For example, by monitoring, debugging, repairing, and preventing issues.
How We Sell and Share Your Information
We will never sell your information. Period.
We share your information in extremely limited circumstances, and only with appropriate safeguards. These include:
- To contractors or service providers who work with us to help provide information, reporting, communications, or investment and program services.
- To third-party vendors who help us maintain our websites and other tools.
- Legal and regulatory requirements: We may disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.
- To protect rights, property, and others: We may disclose information about you when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of MicroVest, third parties, or the public at large.
- Successor organizations: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company, or in the unlikely event that MicroVest goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would likely be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. If any of these events were to happen, this Privacy Policy would continue to apply to your information and the successor party receiving your information may continue to use your information, but only consistent with this Privacy Policy.
Choices
You have choices about how much, if any, information to give us, and you can change your mind at any time.
You do not have to register for email or social media updates, and if you do you can unsubscribe from some or all whenever you like. If you are a client, we may have to send you certain things (like statements and disclosures) by law, but otherwise we will stop whenever you like.
You are welcome to set your browser to reject cookies, block ads (we don’t sell ads), anonymize you, or anything else which makes you feel more comfortable. There may be parts of our websites which work less well (or not at all) in these circumstances for technical reasons.
If you use any anonymization tactics as part of an attack on our website, services, or other clients we reserve the right to block you. Don’t do this.
If you want to remove your data entirely from our records (except where we are legally required to maintain it), or correct any of your data we are happy to do this at any time as well; please contact us to let us know.
