Lead Investment Officer
Jason leads portfolio construction and investment due diligence for the MicroVest Short Duration and Enhanced Debt Fund, with core coverage of Africa and Southeast Asia.
Before joining MicroVest in 2022, he was Director of Operations at MFX Currency Risk Solutions, where he was responsible for relationship management with banking partners while overseeing a $1 billion foreign exchange derivatives portfolio. Prior to that, Jason was the Head of Digital Credit at Yoma Bank in Yangon, where he designed and launched Myanmar’s first bank-led digital credit product, Smart Credit. He began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York and previously served as Special Projects Manager for Dawn Microfinance in Myanmar, and as an Investment Fellow at the Grameen Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya.
Jason holds a BA in Economics & Political Science from Duke University and received an MA in International Relations & International Economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). In addition to his work with MicroVest, Mr. Loughnane is an Adjunct Professor of Microfinance and Development at Johns Hopkins University. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2016.
